He was one of the leading practitioners of Ophthalmology in Secunderabad for 43 years. He worked as Honorary Consulting Ophthalmologist to the Ex. Nizam State Railway, later the Central Railway, Deccan Airways, Indian Airlines and K.E.M.Hospital Bombay for several years. Dr. Ranji was deeply interested in Physical Culture and Military Training having been Combatant Commissioned Officer in a Territorial Battalion during the period of college education. A Pioneer Boy Scout of Bombay during his school days, he was keenly interested in youth welfare. He was an ardent sportsman and lover of music and art.
